(In this review, The Submission of Emma Marx is a romance title and PVV Recommended Film)

Who is this Penny Pax, this super blonde “regular girl” who’s anything but? She looks like a babysitter or a college co-ed attending some impractical liberal arts university; like a hardworking waitress in a small town coffee shop or a girl who would show up at some trendy club in a sundress.
This aesthetic coupled with her porn performer-ness is part of Penny’s mystery.

Penny Pax has a unique name, one that stands out amongst her peers. And she’s been doing interesting work lately, a diverse array of performances that range from super hard to great dramatic acting to fun cheesy cheese. I decided it was time to take a closer look.
Thus, in the spirit of seeing only some of the scope of what this lady can do, I give you reviews of three super-new titles, all starring Penny Pax: The Submission of Emma Marx, If You Only Knew, and The Sleep Over – enjoy!!
New Sensations’ The Submission of Emma Marx
In this, the post-Fifty Shades of Grey world, it feels like light BDSM(ish… kinda… maybe… and definitely not!!) is everywhere… and ALL the adult novelty companies are jumping on it and more than one XXX producer has made some version of a parody of it.
So when I received The Submission of Emma Marx (2013) …well, I was kinda ho-hum about checking it out.

I so was wrong.
The film’s synopsis sounded interesting, but still a little bandwagony…
By all accounts, Emma Marx is a beautiful, confident, well-adjusted woman. Unfortunately when it comes to love and romance, she has found all of her previous relationships to be a bit routine and mundane. Suddenly, that is all changed by a chance encounter with a handsome and mysterious man. He introduces her to a world she had only dared to fantasize of — a world of erotic sex, role-play, and BDSM. She questions how a man can so easily strip away her inhibitions and replace them with lust and desire. How is it that he has such control over her? Why does she like it so much? Her journey of self-discovery and sexual awakening, however, may come with a price. What happens when the greatest love you’ve ever known forces you to face your greatest obstacle — yourself?
…but within the first five minutes of Emma Marx, I realized there was nothing at all cliche about this film.
First off, Penny is perfectly cast. She is absolutely believable as a graduate student studying gender in the workplace (or something like that). She has the slightly know-it-all, budding academic disdain for any notion that counters herself being in TOTAL control of her ENTIRE life down pat… and over the course of the film, all this melts in a way that is absolutely amazing.
Penny is exquisite. (so is Richie Calhoun, who plays “Mr. Frederick”)
But both what this film engages and how these topics are explored is what really makes Emma Marx exceptional. Not only are authentic dimensions of BDSM play (ie negotiations beforehand, safe words, etc) engaged in a forthright manner, we also get to follow Emma through struggles with her identity and desires in a really meaningful way. Is she “normal”? And what is “normal” anyway?
The film was lovely and thought-provoking and hott. as. hell. And though Emma Marx is probably not for folks looking for hard, fully realistic BDSM, it’s the perfect place for someone looking for BDSMy inspiration that’s not contrived or misleading. Plus, it’s not shot in a super hardcore manner – Emma Marx is more of a romance-type title. This tenor might be especially appealing for individuals just beginning to put a toe in.

Wicked Pictures’ If You Only Knew
In this film (also a romance-type title), Penny plays a scheming, conniving, truly unpleasant lady who you (I) definitely would NOT want to hang out with. Consider…
Loyal and hardworking, Kellie is the longtime assistant to Mark, a powerful land developer. She secretly harbors a crush on her boss who is clearly oblivious. He’s too busy with his gold digging girlfriend [Penny plays the gold-digger!!] and high profile projects to notice. But when a tragic accident occurs, the hard-nosed businessman seeks the solace and comfort of his biggest supporter.
At one point, Penny’s character slaps Kellie [Allie Haze] – dang!!
Based on Penny’s performance in If You Only Knew (2013), she’s not getting typecast as a romantic submissive any time soon!!
Smash Pictures’ The Sleep Over
Sleepovers can be so much fun for young girls. A chance to bond with other girls and stay up late sharing your innermost thoughts and desires. But sometimes things can get really wild as one can only imagine. Mr. and Mrs. Pistol didn’t know what they were getting into when their daughter Jodi brought over her slutty friends. Seems little Kira has a daddy complex and Casey is into women – watch out mom. Brother Tyler gets into the action when he scores big with nerdy little Penny [Pax.. in yet another character play!!] . And not to be left out – Jodi gets a surprise visitor when her college booty call arrives and fucks her in her sleeping bag while everybody sleeps. Oh, what a night…
So, The Sleep Over (2013) is silly. It’s fine, but it’s also pretty “typical porno” in its “five girls having a slumber party and XXX shows up…” shtick – eating popcorn, wearing super cute footie pajamas, gossiping, and painting each others’ nails… plus a whole lotta fkkking.
Though the film is not exactly reliant upon performers’ dramatic acting skills, Tommy Pistol is hilarious (as per usual) as the creeping awkward dad; and Tyler Nixon is pretty convincing as the slightly dim and douchey older brother. Alana Evans is a natural MILF, and Penny plays a nerdy, inexperienced sister’s friend perfectly. The sex is also fine, not too over-the-top but definitely more on the “hetero dude viewer” end of the spectrum.
But back to Penny.
Penny’s performance in The Sleep Over shows another dimension of her range, but it’s her BTS interview that I found most compelling. Each of the women performers featured in the film are interviewed… and though the quality of these interviews vary and though each is punctuated with the obligatory masturbation tease, Penny’s spot gives us the opportunity to get to know her a bit more.
And she only looks innocent.
