Review – Tom Byron Pictures’ Creature Feature (2010) and Smash Pictures’ Halloween XXX (2011)

I love Halloween, like love love LOVE it!!

And I also love talking about the socio-cultural significance of adult content, so OF COURSE I’m going to review some more “Halloween Porn” this year – enjoy!!

* * *

Tom Byron’s Creature Feature (2010) and Smash Pictures’ Halloween: XXX Porn Parody (2011) couldn’t be more different – one campy and one slasher scary, they each bring out their own dimension of Halloween!!

Creature Feature is an adorable vignette film that’s takes us through five classic tales of spooky creepy horror – pornified, of course!!

It’s a monster legacy comes to life – “Bride Of Frankenstein is electrifying [Jennifer White and Evan Stone]… The Mummy leaves you speechless [Gracie Glam and Mark Zane]… Dracula takes the bite out of scream [Tara Lynn Foxx and Anthony Rosano, who is creepy as hell]… The Wolfman has a howl of a good time [Lizz Tayler and Tommy Gunn]… and Zombie Man is an ultra bone-chiller [Andy San Dimas and Tom Byron]!!!”

(pictured: great boxcover really does this title justice)

Each boy-girl vignette has a great lead-in that’s filmed to look old and grainy. Evan Stone is, as per usual, hilarious; Gracie Glam is a super sexy archeologist; and Andy San Dimas is the perfect scream queen. Each scene is complimented by Sunny Lane, who makes an excellent host. Minus some moments of really poor sound quality, Creature Feature is a delightfully campy and authentic homage – a delightful title for anyone interested in sexifying horror classics

One additional point that was interesting to me was how much can change in just two years. Creature Feature isn’t a “new release,” but it’s definitely not old. It’s interesting to consider the career trajectories of Sunny, Andy, and Gracie in particular since this film came out.

Halloween: XXX Porn Parody is much more scary than it is fun.

It was on Halloween night that a young Michael Myers inexplicably slaughtered his slutty older sister (Raven Alexis). Fifteen [years] later, he escapes a mental hospital and returns home. Spotting a scholarly looking teenager, Laurie (Lily Labeau), the deranged psychopath Michael lusts after her and stalks her. Finding her trampy friends, Annie (Andy San Dimas) and Lynda (Lexi Belle) engaging in carnal acts with their boyfriends on Halloween eve, just as his sister did years ago, sets Michael off. While her friends are off engaging in sex acts and getting killed, the responsible Laurie is at home babysitting. Unable to reach her friends by phone, Laurie becomes suspicious and walks across the street to Annie’s darkened house and comes fact to face with Michael Myers himself.

So yeah, fairly literal parody of the original 1978 version of Halloween here… and it’s eek eek good!!

(pictured: more Andy San Dimas and Lily LaBeau)

We get all sorts of Halloween (1978)-ish shots: Michael’s POV through the eyes of a mask and a shout out to Victorville and Modesto, CA (ok, that’s not in Halloween but whatevs). And there’s also plenty of bright sunny day segments and scary nighttime shots with creepy ass Michael standing and staring… at you!!

If you’ve seen the original film, then you’ve pretty much seen Smash’s take, but don’t let that dissuade you – Jim Powers does a great job directing a truly scary flick, and all the performers do a great job. Lily LaBeau in particular carries us all the way through the end of the film, long after the final sex scene (five boy-girls, by the way). Her fear is palpable.

Halloween XXX is a great bit of “scary” to balance out the camp of Creature Feature – loved ’em both!!

Oh and ps – just like with Creature Feature, it’s interesting to see what a difference a year+ can make in certain performers’ career trajectories… amazing in some instances (Lily!!), in others: talk about horror stories :/
