Review – parodies from Zero Tolerance: Basic Instinct and Silence of the Lambs!!

I love Halloween, like love love LOVE it!!

And I also love talking about the socio-cultural significance of adult content, so OF COURSE I’m going to review some more “Halloween Porn” this year – enjoy!!

When I was right around late junior high/early high school, no films simultaneously thrilled and frightened me more than Basic Instinct (1992) and The Silence of the Lambs (1991). It thus stands to reason: would porn parodies of both films have a comparable impact?

In the name of science, I had to find out.

Both Zero Tolerance’s Official Basic Instinct Parody (2011) and Official The Silence of The Lambs Parody (2011) are more campy than literal takes on their respective source materials.

In spite of a tantalizing synopsis, the Official Basic Instinct Parody was moderately meh…

This taut X-rated version of the thriller classic brings its story to new heights of sexual tension. Breanne Benson delivers a delicious femme fatale performance as Catherine Trammel, the number one suspect in the murder case Nick Curran (Michael Vegas) is trying to crack. He’d like to engage in a penetrating investigation of all three female suspects, if only he could dodge another kind of “internal affair.” But as the plot thickens, Nick is able to wield his eight-inch weapon to bring this hilarious parody to a satisfying climax!

The plot follows the line of the original Basic Instinct fairly closely until about halfway through, and then it takes a kinda silly turn. Great for a campy raunchy time, but nothing to write home about.

…while the Official The Silence of The Lambs Parody (2011) was a bit more creative. Here’s that synopsis:

Kagney Linn Karter delivers a breakout performance as Clarice Starling, the junior FBI agent sent to pick Hannibal Lecter’s brain for information on serial killer Buffalo Bill’s whereabouts, and deliver him a horny young fan in exchange, as long as he vows not to eat her! Meanwhile Buffalo Bill is busty torturing Brenda who turns out to be so masochistic that she loves every kinky minute of it. Will Agent Crawford ever get in Clarice’s pants? Or will she stay a die-hard lesbian? Orona’s captured the dark sinister cinematic nature of the original with a perverted twist around every corner. A must-see parody!

TheOfficial The Silence of The Lambs Parody follows the source material fairly closely, a bit more closely than the Basic Instinct parody, but there are still plenty of deviances. These aren’t necessarily good things, but they do build in opportunities for sex scenes (which I guess is what’s most important).

Kagney Linn is really great here, and it’s nice to see her carry a more dramatic film. Commander Anthony Rosano is as delightful as always, and Ben English is disturbing as Hannibal Lecter. There are some great campy moments in the film too, which ultimately make it “better” than the Official Basic Instinct Parody in my opinion… but again: great for a silly raunchy time, but nothing to write home about.

(pictured: also, a really great box cover)

Ultimately, neither of these films really worked for me – I’ll stick with my young-age memories of the source materials – but I can see someone who’s in the mood for spritely nostalgia and five solid sex scenes apiece getting all the necessary benefits from both.
