PVV – After Porn Ends (interesting looking trailer)

The trailer for the documentary After Porn Ends (2012) was playing in the background during this year’s XRCO Awards. I thought it looked interesting then; and, now that the trailer has come my way, perhaps you will too…

Here is the synopsis:

After Porn Ends is a documentary that not only examines the lives and careers of some of the biggest names in the history of the adult entertainment industry; but what happens to them after they leave the business and try to live the average lives that millions of others enjoy.

They hailed from the rural South, steel towns, and the San Fernando Valley. As teenagers and young adults, none of them thought that porn was in their future. They were artists, baseball players, child prodigies, and even Ivy Leaguers. Now, after their lives in porn, they’re television stars, bounty hunters, writers, and social activists. What happened in between? And now that they’ve moved on, can they really live a normal life after porn?” (edited slightly)

And here is the trailer:

I’m pretty excited to watch this film. The filmmakers got feedback from some real porn performer movers, shakers, and legends – Seka, John Leslie, Tyffany Million, Amber Lynn, Nina Hartley, Raylene, Richard Pacheco, and more!! – and I can’t wait to hear more of what they had to say.

  1. You know, I don’t think I’ve ever seen an Asia Carrera film. But I’ve seen her interviewed (come to think of it, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a Nina Hartley film, and I’ve seen her interviewed a lot and, of course, in “Boogie Nights”). While I think that porn was definitely good for her, her story is so incredibly sad. She’s about my age and we come from similar backgrounds. I definitely knew Asian kids who had that kind of unreasonable pressure placed on them to succeed academically which just completely stunts their development as people. (There’s a difference between being encouraging or even strict, on the one hand, and being so dominating as to forbid any sort of personal development that doesn’t conform to an ideal, on the other hand.)

And Nina Hartley should DEFINITELY run for office. For governor or Senator? She’s probably correct. She won’t get elected. But could she be a city councilman or a mayor or a state senator? Maybe even a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from one of the more progressive parts of California? Oh God yeah. And she’d be a great advocate for personal expression. She’d be able to break down a lot of walls.

Plus, Raylene. I could listen to Raylene read movie times from a newspaper. She has such an unbelievably strong life-force, it’s practically intoxicating.
