Though some of you may not, many of you know that I’ve been working on a podcasting/interview project with my dear friend Lydia Ann Lee (fka Julie Meadows) during the past few months.
For those of you who may have missed it:
Alternately called “The Lydia Lee & Dr. Chauntelle Show” (or “Dr. Chauntelle & Lydia Lee” depending on which one of us is talking haha), the main purpose of [The Geek Goddesses] is information and discussion – we will be discussing all things sex, culture, and adult from an informed, critical perspective. Our show is also going to have lots of guests and will ideally provide a space for women in the industry (especially performers) to really get into issues they deal with on a daily basis… because no one knows what goes on in the adult business better than the people who actually work in it!!
It’s really a unique combination of real world experience and involvement coupled with the social-justice informed mission to actively engage the diversity of adult – tons of meaningful fun that seeks change and gives back.
If you want to read more about the Geek Goddesses, go here.
In addition to our “Lost (warm up) Episodes,” we’ve now done twelve (TWELVE!!) total shows – four with just Lydia and me talking about all sorts of interesting and complex stuff and eight (EIGHT!!) really wonderful in-depth interviews. So far, we’ve spoken to Jacky St. James, Johnny Hazzard, Alia Janine (you can read all about those interviews here), AND a whole series of new folks!!
So, for your listening and learning pleasure, we now have Tanya Tate, Steven St. Croix, Kelly Shibari, Jerrod Olson, and FSC’s Diane Duke and Joanne Cachapero – enjoy!!
August 23rd, 2012 – Dr. Chauntelle and Lydia Lee interview Tanya Tate about differing attitudes towards sexuality and porn in England, Ireland, and the United States; directing for Penthouse; the syphilis moratorium; condoms; her super powers (which are many!); judging a sexy zombie contest; and her Fleshlight.
Tanya also talks about being asked to speak at the University College Dublin’s (UCD) Literary and Historical Society’s debate on adult entertainment and sex… and then being canceled after university authorities stepped in! Fortunately for students interested in asking the famous adult star questions, Tanya will respond through her YouTube Channel (TanyaTateTube) on the day of the debate. – Tanya interview here!!
Steven St. Croix
September 3th, 2012 – In a candid, thought-provoking, and occasionally funny (hilarious) interview, twenty-year adult industry legend Steven St. Croix speaks with Dr. Chauntelle and Lydia Lee about a great many things.
Steven discusses the industry he entered in 1992 vs. the industry he works in today, including the development of what he sees as a lack of camaraderie amongst performers and within the business overall. He also comments on the current syphilis situation and the dissension he sees developing between different industry factions. – Steven interview here!!
August 31st, 2012 – In a slightly less formal and somewhat more technical interview, Dr. Chauntelle and Lydia Lee talk to in-house Penthouse employee, Jerrod Olsen, about working behind the scenes. – Jerrod interview here!!
August 27th, 2012 – Dr. Chauntelle and Lydia Lee interview award-winning performer, Kelly Shibari. A self-described “intelligent hedonist,” Kelly talks about her entertainment PR and social media marketing endeavor, The PRSM Group; running Padded Kink [dot] com; and how the award-winning site (BBW Fan Fest Fetish Site of the Year, 2012) caters to what the performers find sexy. – Kelly interview here!!
Joanne Cachapero and Diane Duke
September 6th, 2012 – The Free Speech Coalition (FSC) is the trade association for the adult entertainment industry. Lydia Lee and Dr. Chauntelle Anne Tibbals visit FSC headquarters for some in-depth discussion with Executive Director Diane Duke and Communication/Membership Director Joanne Cachapero. – Joanne and Diane interview here!!
I’ve learned so much from our conversations with Tanya and Kelly, Steven and Jerrod, and Joanne and Diane (and from Alia, Johnny, and Jacky, too!!)… plus I always learn from Lydia… and so should you!!
Take a moment to grow your brain, listen to me and Lydia playing good cop/bad cop (and vice versa!!), and enjoy all the giggles and growth that come when you take some time out to have a chat with folks who actually live the life they’re talking about – you won’t be disappointed, I promise.
