I am about to write something completely unexpected – Vivid’s Pee-Wee’s XXX Adventure (2012) is an absolutely inspired film.
Pee-Wee’s XXX Adventure is creative and fresh, hilarious, exceptionally acted, and (almost) perfectly rendered. When I started watching it, I figured it was going to be good – great cast, great director, great production backing… but I had no idea it was going to be THIS GOOD.
If this film sparks your interest at all, you absolutely must watch it. Wait – you must own it and display it proudly on your mantle (or wherever) next to your other treasured collectables!! There. Done. Buy it right now, right here.
(pictured: so BRILLIANT!! – you need to watch this film)
But if you’re still unsure and need some additional convincing, let me elaborate…
Pee-Wee Herman has been a part of my life since forever. I adored Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure (1985) when I was a kid; but, like so many others in my age bracket, I only got some parts of some of the jokes. (re-watch as an adult if you haven’t already – heeee!!) And since, in spite of my youthful naiveté, I was a little too old for “Pee-Wee’s Playhouse” (1986 – 1991), I followed my beloved man-child around via campy ’80 flicks… until that thing happened. You know, that thing that happened to Paul Reubens in 1991.
I can recall very vividly being incensed – barely outta junior high school, and I was pissed!! I didn’t exactly understand what Pee-Wee had been doing in that theatre, but I knew it was adult stuff and that he was an adult. I felt so bad as the world mocked him mercilessly and a really quirky, incredibly creative performance artist got shamed into oblivion…
It’s so odd to think about Pee-Wee alongside the string of famous dudes “caught” jerking off in adult spaces since then and the public’s various reactions thereof. I wonder if Paul still gets angry about the whole thing – he deserves to!! And I wonder if our world ever realizes how nasty we were to pass such judgement… and how strong a person Paul must be to have withstood it.
I love you Pee-Wee, and I’ve always been on your side!! I still discuss that incident in my courses as an example of societal discomfort with sex and public shaming.
(pictured: Pee-Wee power!!)
But I digress…
Point being is that, going in, Pee-Wee’s XXX Adventure already had a pretty tough sell with me. But it had gotten many great reviews, the synopsis sounded good…
“Parody at its finest… and funniest!” (AVN Magazine)
Pee-Wee [Tommy Pistol] loves Dolly [Aiden Starr] more than anything else in the world. Too bad she’s a doll. But Pee-Wee doesn’t want to admit it. To him she’s as real as the bowtie around his neck, much to the chagrin of sex worker Lizzy [Capri Anderson], who longs for Pee-Wee as much as Pee-Wee lusts for Dolly. When Dolly is stolen by a mysterious bandit, Pee-Wee goes on a wild, madcap recovery mission, complete with ghost truckers, gangbanging bikers, and a porno director named Chorkle…only to find Dolly as a prop on a Lizzy porn set! Will Lizzy finally consummate her love for Pee-Wee? Is Pee-Wee really over Dolly? Will you bust a nut over the crazed 4-way interracial ass fuck, or Capri Anderson’s awesome body? Hit play (as in playhouse) and find out.
…and the trailer looked incredible!!
Bahahahaha!! There. Are. No. Words.
Let’s clarify: Pee-Wee XXX is not a copy of any previously-produced mainstream Pee-Wee adventures, oh no. Pee-Wee XXX is next level in its brilliant creativity – it builds off the source material, incorporating key elements into a truly original and clever pornified storyline, resulting in final product that is nothing short of filmic gold.
Rather than his iconic bike, Pee-Wee is in love with living Real Doll Dolly. In a fantastic nod to Mannequin (1987), Dolly comes alive when only Pee-Wee is watching… Or maybe it’s all in his head, who knows. Point being is that Pee-Wee loves Dolly more than anything such that he puts off real life and others notice… and when someone steals her, Pee-Wee embarks on an XXX adventure of epic proportions!!
Tommy Pistol has slowly and quietly become one of my favorite performers. His sex scenes are great, but his acting is inspired. Campy and quirky, his Pee-Wee is perfection (hehe). A little internet stalking revealed that Tommy has quite a bit of professional comedy training and experience, so I guess the quality of his performance is not unexpected… Except his spazz-tastic Pee-Wee is so spot on that it’s almost eerie.
For more reviews of Tommy’s work, go here – high hilarity!!
(pictured above and below: Tommy as Pee-Wee …did you think I was kidding?)
The quality of production in Pee-Wee XXX is 99.9999% flawless. I only indicate the .0001% flaw because I was so taken aback by how excellent the story, acting, editing, music, resolution, camp, sex, and everything else was. The attention to detail here is in a league of its own.
Much props have to be given to all the Pee-Wee XXX performers and to whoever cast them – inspired!! As I said, Tommy was incredible… but so was everyone else!! Aiden Starr was just delightful as Dolly. She did a great job shifting seamlessly from still to animated (in viewing, this seemed more difficult than it sounds, especially considering there was an actual Real Doll to contend with too), and her final good-bye moment with Pee-Wee was actually really touching.
Capri Anderson was great as dingy-yet-focused Pee-Wee stalker Lizzy, and Jada Fire and Lea Lexis brought great comedic depth to what could’ve been just sex scene performances. (Jada was especially funny)
But, minus Tommy’s obviously, no performance compares to that of Evan Stone’s. Evan, who is often THE key comedic ingredient in any project, takes awesome to new levels in Pee-Wee XXX. He plays Francis, a Rasta version of Chuck, Large Marge, a biker, AND the most superlative of over-the-top porno directors EVER. I cannot even begin to describe how hilarious his performances are, you just have to watch…
And sex!! There is sex in this movie – five total scenes, all hott and lovely with enough humor and raunch thrown in to compliment the storyline. In the sexxxiness department, Pee-Wee XXX does not disappoint!!
(pictured: Aiden as Dolly, Tommy as Pee-Wee)
In sum, I cannot recommend this film highly enough. It’s not just because of my love of the source material – Pee-Wee’s XXX Adventure is truly great. I have only ever seen one other parody film or “remake” (adult and mainstream) that was comparably well-done – A Wet Dream on Elm Street (2011). Guess who was in that one, too…
With performances from Aiden Starr, Capri Anderson, Tommy Pistol, Jada Fire, Lea Lexis, Barry Scott, Jerry, John Strong, Lucas Stone, Tom Byron, and Evan Stone.
Non-sex performances from Ron Jeremy, Alisa Ford, Pressley Carter, Emily Eve, Tracey Sweet, Lee Stone, Ralph Long, Rusty Nails, and others.
Written by David Stanley, produced by Ralph Long, and directed by B. Skow for Vivid. Released in February, 2012. Buy your copy and/or watch it now here.
Plus decent extras – one bonus boy-girl sex scene featuring Capri, some really great BTS footage, and other standard fare.
Incidentally, this review is for Count, who asked me to watch this film months ago!! :)
